Gr 3-6-Have you been looking for a great micrometeorites project? Packed with illustrations, vivid photos, cool facts, and 11 projects both familiar and new, these books combine real-life examples and experiments to hook readers. Floods in Weather, predation in Bugs, mummification in Egypt, and disasters in Earth keep readers' interest at a high. Illustrations in a variety of styles send the message that there's no right or wrong way to draw a dinosaur, visualize earth processes, or illustrate scientific concepts. "How It Works" sidebars and graphic explainers like maps and time lines show up when needed, along with questions that encourage analytical thinking. The craft instructions are a bit minimal in places, but for pep and appeal, this series can't be beat. VERDICT Streamlined, immersive, entertaining information delivery, supported by experimentation and observation activities.
